Sabrina Fonfeder is a development exec for Irony Point (Inside Amy Schumer, Life & Beth, I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson) and its sister audio company Radio Point (Ruined, Make My Day with Josh Gondelman, A Good Cry with Michael Cruz Kayne). Her career began at The Wendy Williams Show which sparked her love for irreverent comedy. She loves her dog Roman Roy very much.
What were you like as a teen?
I was a TV addict and stayed in every weekend to watch SNL with my dad.
Did you have an un-sexy starter job?
I was Wendy Williams’s intern. Wendy specifically taught me that the best kind of talent is authentic talent, and there’s no use trying to pretend to be something you’re not or force it to please an audience (or a buyer, for that matter!).
How has being funny helped you in your life?
It got me my JOB!
What specific things do you think a young comedy writer should do to shape their voice?
Make a list of things you love and that make you laugh. Write some combination of those things. Don’t try to write in someone else’s voice.
What is your go-to show?
Veep. I’ve seen the whole series front to back at least 15 times.
