About GOLD

Our members are women and non-binary folks all over the U.S. who are serious about amping up their comedy careers and creative side hustles, making funny stuff—together—and getting RESULTS. They’re here not just for the comedy, but for the community—so they are stoked to welcome YOU. Here are just a few of the GOLDies that you’ll get to hang with:

  • Name:
DIAN SENTINO: Comedian, writer, musician. I produce and write sketches with teams Sick Bae and (award-winning) Hey Gyrl Hey. I’m creating a webseries with GOLD team Concrete Jungle.
    Location:
    Brooklyn, NY
    Joined in:
    my 30s
    I joined GOLD because:
I wanted to learn and perform comedy in a safe and inclusive environment.
    Before GOLD:
I took classes at places that catered to cis white men, which meant that I had to fight to be heard and wasn’t encouraged to pursue my dreams.
    Now:
I am doing what I love: writing and performing sketch comedy. After taking GOLD's Production on a Shoestring Budget with Andrea Romano, I felt confident to produce my own work. I also founded my own sketch group, Sick Bae, with other GOLDies who wanted to find humor in chronic illness. My biggest comedy achivement so far: producing, directing, and editing my sketch, Returning Patient. Sick Bae has already led to other opportunities, too.
Comedian I want to Freaky Friday with:
Michelle Buteau is living the dream!
Word that always cracks me up:
    Scalawag!
  • Name:
MOLINA MOLINA: Standup comic, writer, director. I produce the weekly variety open mic Kitchen Sink Comedy and perform with GOLD's sketch team Sorry You’re on Mute.
    Location:
    Seattle, WA
    Joined in:
    my 20s
    I joined GOLD because:
I wanted to level up my material as a standup, learn about other types of comedy, and build community with amazing comedians across the world!
    Before GOLD:
I didn’t know what careers paths were possible in comedy, I knew I wanted to make my own sketches but didn’t know how, and I didn’t feel like my standup material was as good as it could be.
    Now:
My writing has improved immensely, I’ve gained the skills to write, produce, and direct digital sketches, and I’ve built confidence through the support of other GOLDies and insights from the weekly celeb Q&As. Biggest comedy achievement to date: I was featured in the Seattle Times! The day the article was printed, I was flying to Los Angeles (brag) and bought 5 copies at the airport. It was difficult resisting the urge to brag about it to every stranger at SeaTac Airport, none of whom cared that a famous celebrity with one article written about her was in their presence.
Comedian I want to Freaky Friday with:
Keke Palmer! She’s so naturally funny and ch arming, and I admire her career so much. I love how she jumps into any project that excites her and doesn’t put herself in a box. Whether it’s acting, singing, producing, or hosting, she does it all and I’d love to see what a day in that life looks like.
Word that always cracks me up:
Queue. There’s no reason it needs that many vowels.

    I joined GOLD because:
I love collaborating with and learning from fellow comedians, so when I was accepted onto a GOLD digital production team I was so excited I got to be a part of this great community.
    Before GOLD:
Before GOLD, I hadn't worked on a video shoot since college and was searching for a supportive community where I could make digital comedy sketches.
    Now:
Since joining GOLD, I've met so many amazingly talented and funny people, gained so much more onset production experience and confidence in my skills, and have had many opportunities to participate in comedy/film festivals. Major highlight: I also got to ask Rachel Dratch a question about comedy during a GOLD Q&A. OTHER biggest comedy achievement to date: Seeing GOLD videos I worked on screened at the Catalyst Content Festival in Duluth, MN.
Comedian I want to Freaky Friday with:
    Carol Burnett.
Word that always cracks me up:
    Woozy.
  • Name:
BILLY ABRAHAM: Comedy writer, stand-up comic, and graphic designer with a degree in public health. My ADHD made high school hard–for my parents–and now I use it as a superpower to make people laugh.
    Location:
    Portland, OR
    Joined in:
    midlife!
    I joined GOLD because:
GOLD offers funny people a supportive community where they can reach their full comedy potential.
    Before GOLD:
I'd always wanted to write for TV but never ever thought it remotely possible. I'd dabbled in stand-up comedy and comedy writing but never found the right way forward until I found GOLD.
    Now:
Everything I've achieved is a testament to GOLD's pitching class and Ryan Cunningham's incredible way of helping you find your comedy voice. My TV pilot placed in some script writing competitions, including the Austin Film Festival, and I landed a manager after going to the Just for Laughs ComedyPro conference this last summer in Montreal. Biggest comedy achievement of all: Starting a career in TV writing at the age of 50!
Comedian I want to Freaky Friday with:
Always dreamed of going back to the 80's and being a cast member of SCTV.
Word that always cracks me up:
    Kleptomaniac.
  • Name:
CHRISSY CARROLL: Standup, writer, member of GOLD team Concrete Jungle. I think being from NYC makes me and all native New Yorkers naturally funny, cuz this city!
    Location:
    Brooklyn, NY
    Joined in:
    my 30s
    I joined GOLD because:
I was doing a search on what comedians should wear on stage, found a GOLD article about the topic, and the rest is history.
    Before GOLD:
Being a writing newbie, wanted to write sketches but felt too intimidated to actually sign up for a class.
    Now:
GOLD's instructors (like Maggie) were so lovely with all of us in class—from newbies like me to those with more experience, that now I'm enrolled in writing classes, am writing more and have lost that fear. Poof, gone! Biggest comedy achievements so far: Writing more, doing standup, being a judge at a comedy show and on a GOLD team.
Comedian I want to Freaky Friday with:
Bad Bunny. Not a comic, I know, but I'm Puerto Rican from NYC, he's from the island, and being born/raised in the Caribbean sounds like a blast.
Word that always cracks me up:
Tourists. Actually I just hate them.

    I joined GOLD because:
...I did it by accident after originally booking a class for my writing partner who wanted to make TV! (Ooops!)
    Before GOLD:
I didn't have any idea how to share the TV show ideas that he and I were conceiving.
    Now:
I have made award-winning TV pilots, written a play, and secured a book agent!
Comedian I want to Freaky Friday with:
    Jamie Lee Curtis
Word that always cracks me up:
